Check Out A Concept Trailer For The Bird That Drinks Tears

September 21, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Gory and gorgeous.

Just last month it was revealed that Krafton is currently working on a brand new game inspired by a popular Korean fantasy novel series. The untitled “unannounced project” is based on the bestselling The Bird That Drinks Tears series by author Lee Yeongdo and has so far been kept under wraps whilst still in active development. However, Krafton has now treated eager players to a sneak peek at what’s to come in its latest upcoming game.

Although not too much is actually known about the game at this point, the team at Krafton has given some clues as to the artistic and visual direction the fantasy title will take. We know that the studio is working in collaboration with Hollywood concept artist Iain McCaig, who has previously worked on a number of high-profile games and movies. These include Star Wars, Harry Potter, Terminator, and The Avengers, to name a few. The team working on The Bird That Drinks Tears project has been dubbed “Team Windless” and has worked in conjunction with McCaig as the game’s Design Director to produce a brand new concept trailer.

The footage has been created in Unreal Engine 5, which could suggest that the game is being built using the same technology. However, this is purely speculative at this point. Anyway, check out the stunning but surprisingly gruesome new concept trailer from Krafton right here to see if the “unannounced project” is up your street. Be warned though, it’s pretty brutal stuff.

The trailer certainly gives off much darker vibes than many may have been expecting when this fantasy adventure title was first revealed. It seems as though this game is aiming for a sweeping, epic feel but with some gory elements mixed in for those who like their stories grim and gorgeous. It looks incredible, and if the concept footage is anything to go by, there’ll be many people out there with high hopes for what this game actually manifests into.

Krafton has previously described the upcoming game as an “ambitious project” that they hope will reflect the truly original nature of the source material. As such, the studio is still actively recruiting for new game design and development talent to join the team working on this IP. With that in mind, it’s highly likely that we won’t see any gameplay footage or inside looks at the game for quite some time yet. However, if Krafton wants to keep on throwing out concept trailers like this, it’s fair to say that they’ll be received with excitement by many members of the gaming community.

While there’s obviously no word as of yet on a release date for this game, we’ll be keeping an eye on further developments on this new IP from Krafton.
