A wise man once said that this year was the year of video game delays (I was that wise man, if you were wondering) and the news just in is that we have another game that has been bludgeoned with the club of delay. The mech combat action game Vengeance is Mine was originally planned to be released sometime in 2023, but it has just been delayed until the first half of 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game’s publisher 110 Industries and the developer Soleil announced the news today in an official statement, while also commenting on the game’s progress and what they expect from Vengeance is Mine. 110 Industries creative director, Sergei Kolobashkin had this to say in the press release: “We’re thrilled to announce that Vengeance is Mine will be completed in 2023 and launch in H1 2024. Kolobashkin went on to say, “We are fascinated with the progress. Soleil is the best team ever for the job with folks from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Final Fantasy XY also collaborating on the game. The man exerts a wealth of confidence, so much so that it makes us forget about any such delay.
Even though Vengeance is Mine has been spoken about quite often this past year, how much do you really know about this upcoming combat action game? In Vengeance is Mine, players will step into the all-action shoes of Gabriel Jaeger who was violently executed by three time-travelers who were heading back to 1664. These adventurers were traveling back in time with the aim of finding an old piece of technology that allows them to operate the Deacon; a derelict military installation buried under the streets of New Amsterdam.
The Deacon is now in the hands of Charles Jaeger who, as you might have noticed by the surname, is a descendant of Gabriel Jaeger. Charles rallies his group of men to meet their spiritual leader Robert Wright, who is beyond the horizon of space and time. This is where things get interesting though because Gabriel Jaeger, the man who you thought was dead – barely making it out alive – is now in possession of a prototype HYDRA mech suit and is ready to wreak havoc on the world and exact his revenge.
The game consists of melee mech combat with a wide array of weapons and skills like an energy-based projectile that is great for distance fighting, while also adding a very interesting twist to proceedings. Due to the capabilities of this special mech suit, the player will also have the ability to speed up time as well as the ability to rewind time so you readjust your combos or even evade death.
And finally, if you wanted a little bit of frosting on the top of this action-packed cake then here’s one for you; the game also comes with an exceptional soundtrack that includes the likes of Queen, Giorgio Moroder, and Stefanie Joosten. This game sounds like it has it all, it’s just a shame we have to wait even longer now to experience it.
