Fortnite and Dragon Ball Crossover Reveals Vital Detail

August 15, 2022 by Todd Black

Things are about to get Super.

As has been long established, Fortnite is not afraid to pull from any media in order to get an epic crossover going on. They’ve done comics, they’ve done anime, they’ve done other video games, and more. If they have their way, they’ll bring in any and all contenders to ensure that fans have all the skins and designs that they could possibly want from the title, hence why the upcoming Fortnite x Dragon Ball crossover is so highly anticipated. After all, Dragon Ball is one of the biggest franchises in the world of anime, so bringing it into the free game is a no-brainer.

While the crossover is confirmed thanks to a certain post about a “wish being granted,” we now have further details on what might be coming in terms of the overall Fortnite X Dragon Ball crossover, and the Tweet below highlights it quite well:

As you can see, it’s not just a crossover with Dragon Ball, it’s a crossover with Dragon Ball Super. Why is that an important distinction? Because Super is the latest anime from the franchise, and it’s the one that has been filling up fans for some time. So far, it’s seen a TV show and four films.

This is also important in terms of what we might get in the game itself in terms of skins, as most people agreed that we were likely to get Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and certain others. If we’re getting the Super line of characters, we might get to see characters like Beerus and Whis, and the superpowered versions of Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Frieza, and even Gohan via the new Super film. If there was one thing that Dragon Ball Super did right, it was elevating the threat level in order to justify the main characters getting new forms via Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue, as well as Ultra Instinct now Ultra Ego (in the manga).

Add that to Gohan’s new form, Frieza’s Golden Form, Broly being canon officially, and so on, and you can see why the dev team is likely to use the Super anime forms in this title. Given that the latest movie is about to be out worldwide, having these particular versions of the characters show up in the video game would speak to them trying to promote it more and get more people interested in watching it. We’ll have to wait and see.
