Life Is Strange’s Photo Contest Comes To Real Life With $10,000 Prize

January 26, 2016 by Carlos Chism

Hopefully, after winning, you don’t realize you have the magical ability to reverse time.

Square Enix announced the Everyday Heroes Scholarship Fund today. The creative scholarship has a grand prize of $10,000, and will begin accepting entries starting today, through February 16.

The scholarship is based on the contest that takes place in Square Enix’s episodic adventure game Life is Strange, and much like in the game, calls on amateur and student photographers to submit, asking specifically for work that captures how “normal people make the world a better place,” tying in with the game's narrative themes. The three finalists’ photos will be shared across Square Enix’s social media channels, along with being printed, framed, and signed by DONTNOD, the game’s developers.

If you’re a budding photographer interested in the contest’s themes, you can check out more info and details here. $10,000 dollars sounds like a good chunk of change.

Life is Strange launched last year to critical praise. It’s since earned several nominations and honors at major awards shows, including a Games for Change win at The Game Awards, along with three other nominations at that show. While it initially launched only through digital download, the game has also seen a physical limited edition release, along with an update for free director’s commentary.
