If you play Destiny regularly, you’ll be familiar with Xur, an Agent of the Nine, and resident shady tower vendor. He appears every weekend from five AM EST on Friday to five AM EST on Sunday, offering exotic weapons and armor for sale. In addition to exotics, he always sells Three of Coins, a consumable you can pop just before fighting bosses to increase the likelihood an Exotic will drop.
