Nintendo Accounts have launched in Japan, and along with them is an early bonus for Nintendo fans.
As previously promised, you can make a new Nintendo Account using your Nintendo Network ID, Facebook, Twitter, or from complete scratch. If you do have a Wii U or 3DS, you can connect the NNID to access some features, such as buying game directly from the site.
And, there’s this interesting feature. Once your NNID is connected to your Nintendo Account, you can earn 100 yen back for every 1,000 yen spent. To avail of this promotion, you have to spend 1,000 yen in one day.
The amount you can get back as credit maxes out at 1,000 yen as well. So, any money you spend in a day beyond 10,000 yen won’t get you credit back. Of course, this in-store credit doesn’t count towards earning more credit.
Subsequently, Nintendo has also updated their site to make the most out of Nintendo Accounts. The Japanese site allows gamers to buy games off the site, to download to your console automatically. There are also new Topics and Notifications sections, and a dedicated place for personalized discounts.
Of course, the real question is how soon the West gets this. You can’t connect European or US NNIDs for now, so unless you own a Japanese Wii U or 3DS, you can’t benefit from this yet.
Wouldn’t it be crazy if Nintendo pulled off launching Nintendo Accounts for the West before 2015 ends? Would this make you want to buy a Nintendo console? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
