Darksiders 3 is likely in development and releasing Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition was done mostly to garner attention for the franchise once again, according to a developer from Nordic Games.
In a Steam forum thread where a user expressed their desire for Nordic to developer a new Darksiders game, rather than the updated version of Darksiders 2, a developer under the name MegalomaniacNG responded, saying, “Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition was just the start. Since we acquired the franchise we were looking for options for doing a [Darksiders 3]. The remaster was just a way to get some spotlight on the franchise again, reactivate the community and have a better starting position for DS3.”
Nordic Games has not made an official announcement regarding the development of Darksiders 3, but given MegalomaniacNG’s comment, it appears that the game is in development and that the Deathinitive Edition was simply a means to test waters.
In the piecemeal auction of different THQ-published games, such as the Darksiders games, Nordic Games acquired the rights to the franchise. The Darksiders games were originally developed by the now defunct Vigil Games. Nordic officially announced Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition in June this year. It was then released last week for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It was then released on PC yesterday, Nov. 5.
Are you excited for the prospect of Darksiders 3 happening, especially after Vigil Games becoming defunct and THQ selling off all of its properties?
