Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition Officially Announced

June 11, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

Nordic Games is letting fans know that they haven’t left the series to gather dust. Time to play catch-up before Darksiders 3 comes out.

Nordic Games has just announced that they’d be releasing the Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition for current-gen consoles around Winter 2015. Maybe in time for Christmas?

Darksiders 2 was a hack-and-slash RPG developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ. THQ filed for bankruptcy in 2012, and the IP was acquired by Nordic Games. In a June 14, 2013 interview with Joystiq, Nordic Games stated that fans “[should] not look for a Darksiders 3 before two years from now. “

It’s been almost exactly two years now, and we still haven’t heard much by way of Darksiders 3. Nordic Games’ Reinhard Pollice has said in the past that they were carefully deliberating on what direction to push D3 in. We’re sure that the teams at Nordic and Gunfire Games are fully capable of pulling this off.

Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Editionappears to be a move that’s meant to spark interest in the IP again, and to let fans know that Nordic isn’t just letting the series gather dust. What players will be getting with the Deathinitive Edition is a visually updated game with all the DLC goodies included:

·        Maker Armor Set

·        The Abyssal Forge

·        The Demon Lord Belial

·        Death Rides

·        Angel of Death

·        Deadly Despair

·        Shadow of Death

·        Mortis Pack

·        Rusanov’s Axe

·        Van Der Schmash Hammer

·        Fletcher’s Crow Hammer

·        Mace Maximus

·        Argul’s Tomb

Level, character, and environment graphics have been reworked; game balancing and loot distribution have also been tweaked. What Nordic Games is offering here is a customizable gaming experience that boasts of beautiful in-game environments and a good deal of replay-ability.

Gunfire Games’ founder and president, David Adams, said, “This project is a great opportunity for us to pick up where we left off two years ago and dig deeper into the game, which is close to our hearts. Bringing the definitive Darksiders 2 experience to life is something that we hope a lot of people will enjoy and look forward to.”

Is Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition something you would be interested in getting? Or would you rather see it bundled with the first Darksiders title so you can really catch up with the series before going for Darksiders 3?

Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Editionwill be available Winter 2015 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
