Not-E3 week kicks off today with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. The two-hour showcase opened with new footage of the upcoming Street Fighter 6. It also confirmed that the long-time fan-favorite character, Guile, will be returning for the series’ next entry. While this is not entirely surprising news (after all, Guile was included in a recent character roster leak), it’s still good news for Street Fighter fans.
The character reveal trailer showed Guile squaring off against Ryu and series newcomer Luke. Several of Guile’s moves were featured in the footage, including Sonic Boom, Sonic Hurricane, and a brand new move called Crossfire Somersault.
Street Fighter 6 recently received a new gameplay trailer at Sony’s State of Play. The trailer revealed that the title will include three different gameplay modes: single-player story, Fighting Ground (a classic fighting game experience), and a new mode called World Tour. Capcom is using its RE Engine for the game, which has allowed for improved graphics and a flashy graffiti aesthetic.
Summer Game Fest continues with the Tribeca Games Spotlight on June 10. The Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase and the PC Gaming Show follow on June 12. Finally, the Capcom Showcase will air on June 13.
Street Fighter 6 is scheduled for a 2023 release.
