Original Story…
It looks like the whispers behind the remake of The Last Of Us for PS5 weren’t without substance. The PS5 remake of the much-loved and award-winning game has seemingly leaked online ahead of a potential reveal at today’s Summer Game Fest, and it looks as though it’ll be available this coming September.
The apparent leak was spotted by Twitter user Wario64, who discovered a listing on PlayStation Direct for the game, which has now been renamed The Last Of Us Part 1 and shown as available for pre-order with a September 2nd release date. According to photos captured by Wario64, the remake is described as a way for players to “enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.”
In addition to the game’s main campaign, The Last Of Us remake will also include the Left Behind prequel chapter. According to the listing, it will retail at $69.99 for the standard PS5 edition and the special Firefly Edition will set players back $99.99. The listing has now been pulled from the store, but it seems like Wario64 caught the information just in time.
The leak also contains a link to the game’s announcement trailer, which looks absolutely stunning, as you’d expect for a remake that’s been built specifically for the new generation of PlayStation consoles.
The Last Of Us Part 1 will also reportedly be making its way to PC, although that side of things appears to still be in development, suggesting a PC version won’t launch in September alongside its PC counterpart.
With not long to go until Summer Game Fest kicks off, fans will have to wait and see if the remake does get an official reveal, but it certainly looks promising given what’s been discovered on Twitter earlier this afternoon.
