Electronic Arts today released the launch trailer for Need for Speed, EA’s attempt to reboot the racing game franchise.
Set to Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” the trailer sets up an “us vs. them” scenario, where underground racers are always at odds with law enforcement.
Need for Speed was announced earlier this year after the series had gone a year (2014) without a Need for Speed release, a first for the franchise since 2001. This will be the first game entirely developed by Ghost Games, with the only other game in its history being Need for Speed Rivals, which was co-developed by the franchise’s prior torch-bearer Criterion Games.
Earlier this week, EA released screenshots of the six districts that make up the game’s fictional west coast U.S.A. city Ventura Bay. You can check out the entire roster of vehicles that will be included in the game here and the game’s official soundtrack here.
Need for Speed will be available in North America on Nov. 3 and everywhere else on Nov. 5 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those who subscribe to EA Access can start playing the game today, Oct. 29. The PC version of Need for Speed was delayed until 2016.
