Dhalsim is the latest character to be announced for Street Fighter 5. The announcement was officially made at the PlayStation media briefing at Paris Games Week today.
Game director Yoshinori Ono also announced that the 16th and final character for Street Fighter 5 will be announced the next time Ono appears on stage. PlayStation Experience is in December and is the only major event where PlayStation will have a presence between now and Street Fighter 5’s release on Feb. 16, 2016, which was also announced at PlayStation’s media briefing today.
Ono also announced that in the year following Street Fighter 5’s release, six additional characters will be released and can be purchased using in-game currency that is acquired by playing the game. An image featuring silhouettes of the six characters was shown at the media briefing and can be seen below.
“On average, we will release one new character every two months, provided everything stays on track with our development schedule,” Capcom wrote in a blog post today.
Earlier this month, Capcom confirmed that locked content (in the form of new characters, for example) will not be included on the game’s disc, something Capcom has been guilty of with some of their other games.
Previous to Dhalsim’s announcement, Laura was the most recent addition to Street Fighter 5’s roster.
