Xbox One owners will be able to take advantage of a slew of new features in this update, most notably the addition of backwards compatibility support for Xbox 360 games and a completely revamped user interface that should make navigating the console’s basic functions, like inviting players to parties and game sessions, much, much simpler (especially without a Kinect).
Backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games is something that was unexpectedly announced at Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2015 in June. The list of supported Xbox 360 titles can be found here. The most recent addition to the list is Criterion Games’ Burnout Paradise, but also includes titles like Borderlands (and all of its DLC). Though, use of the Xbox One’s built-in game capture and screenshot functions were found to be not available for Borderlands by Xbox One Preview program members.
A walkthrough video of the new Xbox One dashboard was published in September and showed off the major functional changes to the way content and features are accessed in the new update.
