Xbox One Backward Compatibility Announced for Xbox 360 Games

June 15, 2015 by Stephen Daly

360 games will work “natively” on Xbox One.

Microsoft has announced that later this year the Xbox One will begin to support Xbox 360 games "natively" via a back compatibility update.

Onstage, Microsoft showed BioWare's original Mass Effect running on the Xbox One. Games will take advantage of Xbox One features, including screenshot capture.

100 games will initially be supported and this feature will be extended for both digital and physical games.

Xbox Preview members can begin playing 360 games today and it will be available for everyone by the end of the year.
