As part of Bungie’s preparation for The Taken King’s release next week, Destiny’s companion app and desktop website have been updated and include some information on the new raid’s difficulty and what challenges it may offer.
The screenshots below come from Reddit user “Tavarish” and compare the first Destiny raid, Vault of Glass, with the new raid, King’s Fall. As can be seen in the images, King’s Fall is a level 42 raid with three different challenges active: Golgoroth Challenge, Oryx Challenge, and Warpriest Challenge. Oryx is the name of the big bad in The Taken King, from which the DLC gets its name and vice versa. The other two, Golgoroth and Warpriest, are presumably two other bosses found within King’s Fall.
Comparatively, Vault of Glass is labeled as a level 30 raid without any other modifiers to kick up the challenge. Both of these are the Heroic or “Hard Mode” versions of the raids, so it stands to reason that both raids will have a lower level requirement for the “Normal Mode” versions.
Despite the fact that The Taken King will be released on Sept. 15, the King’s Fall raid will not be available for another three days after that on Sept. 18. Presumably, Bungie wants its players to not feel rushed to complete the story content in The Taken King, only to sink their teeth right into the new raid, one Bungie is calling the largest in the game so far.
If you are having trouble downloading the Destiny 2.0 update because your last-generation console doesn’t have the storage space to handle it, Activision has a solution for you that involves them sending you a 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive.
