During Blizzcon in 2018, Principal Game Designer at Blizzard Wyatt Cheng went down in internet history–and not in a good way. Upon the announcement of Diablo Immortal, an upcoming mobile title, fans immediately asked if the game would also be coming to PC, as mobile games aren’t incredibly popular in the west. When the condescending response came in the negative–“Do you guys not have phones?”–social media exploded with rage, and Blizzard immediately attempted to do damage control.
In the end, the fans seem to have won, as Diablo Immortal will be coming to PC after all. Today, Blizzard announced that Immortal would be released for Android and iOS on June 2, with a PC Open Beta scheduled to be released on the same day. The developer notes that the new title will focus on a previously “untold chapter in the Diablo Saga.”
A new video featuring new footage and an interview with Game Director Wyatt Cheng and Senior Manager of Community Development Adam Fletcher has been uploaded to the game’s official YouTube channel.

Blizzard also posted a story synopsis on its official website.
“The Archangel Tyrael is presumed dead, and mankind is left to deal with the aftermath of his actions. Fragments of the shattered Worldstone, still embued with great power, are tainting the land. Diablo’s minions hope to harness that power to allow the Lord of Terror to return.”
Diablo Immortal will feature cross-play and cross-progression between mobile and PC versions, with all progress from the PC beta being carried over to the full release.
The next main entry in the series, Diablo 4, is currently in active development. It is scheduled to be released sometime in 2023, along with Overwatch 2.
Diablo Immortal will launch for Android and iOS on June 2. It will release in Open Beta on PC on the same date. Players can currently sign up for the Open Beta.
