Pokémon: New Animated Short Features Bidoof

January 13, 2022 by Matt Cook

He’s quite a determined little Bidoof.

The Pokémon Company just released the most heartwarming short to their YouTube page and it stars Bidoof. The beaver Pokémon is featured in a new eight-minute-long animated short, watch it here.

Bidoof has been a frequently discussed Pokémon on social media of late. The chomping creature has featured in several memes, with a Bidoof celebration even taking place in the popular mobile game Pokémon Go. Additionally, a player recently made headlines for beating Pokémon Diamond with nothing but a BIdoof. A Redditor posted his achievement of completing the Nintendo DS game with the fluffy Pokémon. Check out their video below.

With Bidoof getting a lot of attention, it makes sense that The Pokémon Company would give the Pokémon a starring role in its very own short. The video, called Bidoof’s Big Stand, is quite good, showing a new side of the often chastised creature. Bidoof is frequently labeled as a bit of a useless Pokémon, mostly used to cut down large shrubs blocking the way. However, this new short features a determined Bidoof who works to change that perception.

Bidoof’s Big Stand presents a Bidoof who is a bit of an outcast in his community and finds acceptance in a trainer. Although the trainer initially uses the unique Pokémon like we all do, cutting down shrubbery, Bidoof eventually has to prove himself in a tournament battle against a Golem where he will either take home the win or lose it all. It seems that The Pokémon Company is conveying to fans that the adorable beaver Pokémon may be more than he appears.

The Pokémon Company periodically releases these short animated features and they’re generally worth a watch. The company released a Looney Tunes-themed short in June 2020 starring a hungry Scraggy. It is also very cute.

The next big release Pokémon fans have on the horizon is Pokémon Legends: Arceus, due to release on January 28 for the Nintendo Switch.
