Pokémon Go: Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Event Starting November 16

November 10, 2021 by Matt Cook

Pokémon Go is celebrating Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s release.

In the lead-up to the Nintendo Switch Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl release, Pokémon Go is hosting an event to celebrate the occasion. Starting November 16 at 10 AM local time, the first half of the event will have a Brilliant Diamond theme and end on November 18 at 10 AM. The second half of the event will be themed in Shining Pearl and begin directly after Brilliant Diamond.

The Brilliant Diamond half of the Pokémon Go event will see Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup wear Lucas’ red Sinoh hat in the wild. While in Field Task encounters, you will see the starters, Bagon, and Burmy (Sandy Cloak and Trash Cloak) in Dawn’s white Sinnoh hat. The event will also allow players to have an increased chance of catching Stunky, Seel, Murkrow, Poochyena, Aron, Bidoof, Kricketot, and Buneary.

The Shining Pearl half of the event will increase the chances of catching a different set of Pokémon. Pinsir, Misdreavus, Houndour, Spheal, Bidoof, Kricketot, Buneary, and Glameow will all be easier to catch in the wild. This part of the event will also have the starting trio wear Dawn’s white Sinnoh hat in the wild and Lucas’ red hat in Field Task encounters.

The Pokémon blog post announcing the event describes how raids will also differ between each half in One-Star, Three-Star, Five-Star, and Mega Raids. However, both halves will allow for a greater chance of hatching Budew, Bonsly, Happiny, Mime Jr., and Riolu from 7km eggs. In a special-event challenge, catching all three of the starters in each of their hats for a total of six Pokémon, players will earn 1,000 experience, 3,000 Stardust, and a chance at catching Froslass in an encounter.

Throughout the event, Pokémon Go‘s in-game store will also be selling some specially-themed cosmetic items which include: A Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup costume. A Sinnoh hat, top set, pants, shoes, backpack, skirt, and boots.

Take part in the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Pokémon Go event starting November 16.
