In addition to Nintendo’s “Micro” Direct, Nintendo has released a teaser video for their upcoming Wii U title, currently titled Project Treasure.
The video shows four characters, two male and two female, running around a dungeon with weapons and guns, killing enemies and collecting – you guessed it – treasure.
The gameplay, while entirely not from the first-person point of view, is reminiscent of other cooperative focused games, such as the Left 4 Dead series. The primary goal of the gameplay appears to be the acquisition of treasure – treasure that must then be “hauled” back out of the dungeon for completion.
Project Treasure was announced in January via a Nintendo Direct video as a free-to-play, four-player cooperative game, but no other details were given at the time, nor any concept of what the game would look like. This video is the first look at it in action, but is shown to be using “work in progress footage,” meaning this is still likely a ways from release.
The video also featured Japanese voice acting, while all of the text was in English, suggesting that full English localization (i.e. English V.O.) will be in the full version when it is released.
Nintendo has made announcements of other “Projects” in the past that never came to fruition, such as Project H.A.M.M.E.R. for the Wii, which was announced at E3 in 2006. No other information on the game was ever released following its announcement.
Nintendo made a few other announcements today via their Nintendo Direct Micro, like a new Chibi-Robo! game, a new Dr. Mario game, and more.
