Ultra Street Fighter IV, touted as “the best version of the world’s greatest fighting game,” was just released for PlayStation 4 on May 26th, and it’s already starting to sound like the WORST version of the game.
We got a little excited when it was confirmed that the PS4 version would eliminate minor input lag that affected the PS3 version. Now players are complaining that it isn’t just the input that’s laggy; EVERYTHING is lagging. We doubt that’s what the players were asking for.
Reports are now popping up about skipping graphics, buggy audio, and the general slowness of the interface. Some characters appear to have been nerfed as well, or could that just be because of the slowed-down movement? Some players have even deemed the PS4 port of USF IV virtually unplayable in its current state, thanks to everything slowing to a crawl compared to the usual pace that players have come to expect from a Street Fighter title.
Problems like this normally arise with older gen consoles, so this has thrown off the community. Players are concerned about this buggy release mainly because this is supposed to be the version that will be used in EVO 2015 this coming July. We’re sure that there’s going to be a patch, but at the moment, many of the more serious players are feeling like they got ripped off. No news yet from Capcom on how soon they’ll be addressing these problems, but they better do it fast.
