Update: Developer Bungie has confirmed that House of Wolves will launched without a Raid.
On their website, the studio said:
"House of Wolves will not have a Raid activity. We didn't make this decision lightly. Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year."
Original Story: Activision has announced that Destiny's second expansion, House of Wolves, will be released on May 19th.
They've also sent a video which you can check out below. As expected, the expansion open up the Reef area which was only briefly explored in the original game. House of Wolves' story focuses on a group of Fallen enemies who have betrayed a truce with the Reef's enigmatic Queen.
Bungie has confirmed that the add-on will introduce "new story missions, three new competitive multiplayer maps, and a new cooperative strike", in addition to a new Crucible mode. There's no word on whether there will be a new Raid, but The Prison of Elders "arena activity" has been teased and it may be related to an earlier leak which stated the expansion's raid was called "The Arena".
The release date is exactly as predicted by a leak back in February and comes four and a half months after the first expansion, The Dark Below, launched.
