Update: 343 Industries has said there are no plans to bring Halo Online to Xbox One. On the matter of whether or not the game is coming to Europe or North America, the studio said:
"Right now our focus is on learning as much as we can from the closed beta period in Russia. Theoretically, any expansion outside of Russia would have to go through region-specific changes to address player expectations."
Original Story: Halo is returning to PC, in the form of Halo Online, a free-to-play game which is entering closed beta in Russia, GamesIndustry reports.
Halo Online is in development at Russian studio Saber Interactive, the maker of first person shooters Inversion and TimeShift. The studio has experience with the Halo franchise, having helped 343 Industries develop Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
Innova Systems, a Russian MMO firm, will publish the game and has been involved with games including APB Reloaded and Planetside 2.
Details relating to Halo Online are expected to be released on Halo Waypoint soon. Halo 5 Guardians, the next console game in the series, will be out later this year.
