PlayStation Access spoke to Bungie's community manager DeeJ at gamescom about Destiny's beta, its impact on the game, and how big the shooter could ultimately be.
Regarding the changes made as a result of the beta, DeeJ said they're using feedback to ensure that, "September 9th is a high quality experience, a stable experience, in every respect the game that our community deserves, the game that Bungie has always wanted to make
"We've been able to make some slight tweaks and changes to make sure that there is good diversity in that everyone has that expression of power"
DeeJ specifically pointed to the Crucible's Cabal tank as an example of what they're tweaking as a direct result of beta feedback to make it less dominant. He also said that hand cannons and pulse rifles will be slightly overhauled.
He added that they're confident about the game's launch given the sheer number of people who played the beta.
"There were more people playing Destiny online at the same time than any of our other games in history so that gives us a pretty good sense of confidence"
While there have been concerns about just how big, or otherwise, Destiny will be, DeeJ said that in the beta "You didn't even see all of Old Russia, there were parts of Old Russia you couldn't see because we didn't allow your Guardian to become powerful enough. The moon will open up and expand for you the more you explore and the more you complete your missions."
Additional planets beyond those already confirmed; Earth, the Moon, Mars, and Venus, will also feature in the game. Earlier this year Bungie said every planet in the game will be as big as all of Halo Reach.
More content will be continually added and DeeJ said that expansion pack announced for December at Sony's gamescom press conference is being specifically called an expansion pack because of how much it will add to the game. There will also be short events in-game which keep players on their toes if they want to take part and gain access to extra content.
Destiny is set for release on September 9th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. You can watch the full interview below.
