Tomorrow sees the start of a new month and Activision is apparently set to follow in the tradition of recent Call of Duty reveals by announcing the next installment of the franchise at some point before June, PlayStation Universe reports.
As usual, the project, codenamed 'Blacksmith' internally, will be announced though key details will be withheld until E3 – most likely for the Xbox media briefing.
It's unknown whether the game will be an entirely new entry in the series of Modern Warfare 4 but the LinkedIn profile of a developer and an alleged industry insider seem to suggest the latter is in development at Sledgehammer. The studio assisted Infinity Ward with the production of MW3 but will be the sole developer of Call of Duty 2014 following Activision's decision to move to a rotating three team structure for the franchise.
Internet ad companies have also apparently informed sites that they will be receiving new banners and background ads for the game shortly.
Sledgehammer revealed the first image of Call of Duty 2014 last week so it does seem likely that an announcement is imminent.
