John Smedley has been dropping bits of information about Sony's MMO H1Z1 on Twitter and Reddit. He revealed some interesting tidbits related to gameplay like temperature, fishing, and care packages.
He says that temperature will matter in the game. "If it gets cold at night you need to keep warm and either find shelter or start a fire. Which is noticeable," he says. This would be a welcome addition to the MMO scene if the developer does implement this in the final products. People have been modding temperature effects on players in survival and open-world games to create a more realistic setting.
Smedley also noted that the developer wants to have fishing included in the game on a Reddit thread made by users who wish to have it be a part of the gameplay. He also referenced the Hunger Games when it comes to the addition of care packages and how they want people to be competitive.
"We will allow players to purchase Air Drops of care packages like food, water. Before you judge – it goes to a random location and is obvious to everyone in the area. Think of it like buying surprises for people in the game that if you’re lucky you can try and get yourselves. However, our real goal here is along the lines of The Hunger Games. A mad rush for supplies followed by a tense standoff. Basically think of it as instant chaos," he detailed.
He also assuaged players that weapons won't be included in the microtransactions so no one can pay their way to be on top. Another interesting thing is that zombies will also react to air drops so it'll be fun to see the mayhem it creates.
Check out the latest wave of info we posted about the game when it was unveiled recently. We also found out that players can vote to create their own servers.
