According to PlayStation Blog EU, there's a possibility that the remastered edition of Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed title The Last of Us might be offered at a discount to those who already own the game on the PlayStation 3 platform.
Community strategist Eric Monacelli responded to a question on the blog that asked if peole who already own the game and its season pass on the PS3 would be entitled to a discount on the PS4 version's price. Instead of saying "no," he answered writing: "We’re looking into the business model for all this and will post about this once we have input from all regions."
While it's not a definitive answer, Naughty Dog is open to the possibility of giving a discount to the fans who already own the game. Hopefully, owning the season pass won't be a requirement as well. The remeasted edition is currently available for pre-order on Amazon for $59.99.
The existence of the PS4 version came out recently following a leak. Sony and Naughty Dog might have been convinced to release a remastered version on the PlayStation 4 after the game revealed itself to be a critical and commercial success. It's interesting to note that Neil Druckmann initially thought that the game would get poor reviews.
The Last of Us was released on June 14, 2013 on the PS3 and the remastered edition will be out this summer for the PS4.
