It seems as if Alistair, one of the most popular characters in BioWare’s Dragon Age franchise, will be making an appearance in this year’s Inquisition. At least, that seems to be the message voice actor Steve Valentine is sending in a recent Twitter post.
The popular voice talent posted a picture of himself at BioWare, sporting some serious recording equipment. We had heard previously that Valentine wasn’t contacted for the role, but it looks like the developer was just taking its sweet time to bring Alistair back into the fold.
Along with this news comes some new information on the next-generation RPG from the latest issue of OXM (via the BioWare forum). One major point the preview makes is that players shouldn’t expect additional companions to arrive in the world through DLC, so whoever makes it into the core game is all that there is.
"Because of how deeply enmeshed in the system companion characters are, we can't just add them on the fly; part of them has to be shipped on the disc…which was led to criticism that we're forcing people to pay for content they already own,” creative director Mike Laidlaw said. “It's not the case, but we've decided this time to not go that route. There will be no DLC party members."
How you deal with these companions, as well as the many decisions that need to be made throughout your quest, will lead to one of 40 different endings. Dragon Age: Inquisition is all about customization, so how your hero looks, sounds, and goes about business will all be up to you this fall.
