Ubisoft Confirms Watch Dogs for April to June Release as Sales Tumble

February 10, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Strong indications The Division will be delayed, however.

Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch_Dogs will be released between April and June of this year in their latest financial report.

The Crew will be launched during fiscal year 2015 which means some point between April 1st 2014 and March 31st 2015. Just Dance and two other, major games are also planned for this period one of which is likely the next Assassin's Creed and possibly a new Far Cry.

Ubisoft made no mention of The Division however, strongly suggesting that the game has been delayed. The publisher also omitted the platforms for which Watch_Dogs will launch, there have been doubts raised over the Wii U version of the game.

For the third quarter which ended on December 31st, Ubisoft reported a fall in sales of 35.2 per cent year-on-year to €520 million ($709 million) from €802 million ($1.09 billion). Digital sales also fell by four per cent for the quarter but are up 12 per cent for the year.

The company reported an operating loss of €65 million ($88.7 million) for the quarter which is at the higher end of its prediction of a €40-70 million loss.

Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 were the primary drivers of growth for the third quarter in 2012 but Ubisoft hailed the success of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and the "highly successful launches" of the PS4 and Xbox One despite the slide.
