Last weekend’s UFC 169 might not have been the most exciting MMA event in recent history, but it did feature some of the most talented fighters in the sport. Two title fights and a massive heavyweight bout went down in the sports-hungry city of New Jersey, and three fighters participating in these monumental bouts have just been added to the EA Sports UFC roster.
First, we’ll take a look at the featherweight champion, Jose Aldo “Junior.” The 145-pound kingpin hasn’t lost a fight in ages, and while he doesn’t quite have the killer instinct that he possessed early in his career, Aldo has picked apart all of the opponents the UFC has put in front of him. He’s a killer and unfortunately for Ricardo Lamas, just too much to handle on a regular Saturday night. Lamas challenged for the belt during UFC 169 and continued to move forward during Aldo’s barrage, but the “The Bully” couldn’t produce enough offense to push the champion like he needed to.
Frank Mir is about twice the size of the aforementioned fighters, but the heavyweight veteran hasn’t been performing too well comparatively. Mir just lost to international start Alistair Overeem, which puts the former champion’s current skid at four losses. It’s unclear what his next career move will look like, as Mir is approaching his 35th birthday.
Expect more champions and dangerous contenders joining the fray in the coming weeks.
