We’re waiting for more information to come out in regards to the PlayStation 5. Sony has been tight-lipped on the console platform outside of showcasing the components inside the system. We’re still left wondering several aspects such as the features it will have compared to the Xbox Series X, the price point, design, and even the date it will launch into the market. Still, even though we’re waiting for Sony to step up and reveal some of these key attributes for the console, we do know that there have been developers praising the console platform.
One of the latest praises come from Tim Sweeney, who is the CEO of Epic Games. While Epic Games works on several platforms and even runs a digital marketplace for the PC platform, the company recently unveiled its Unreal Engine 5. This new engine brings in film-like visuals to video games running in real-time which is quite impressive. However, this game demo was showcased using the PlayStation 5, and today we’re finding out that the demo was only possible thanks to the advancements made by Sony.
IGN was able to get a comment from Tim Sweeney who claims that the PlayStation 5’s SSD is not only crucial to the game development but also is superior to any SSD currently available for the PC platform, including any high-end gaming rigs you may see built. That’s quite a statement but we do know that the new SSD does feature 5GB per second in bandwidth which is a massive leap in comparison to the PlayStation 4.
It’s with this SSD that the Unreal Engine 5 could really shine on the PlayStation 5. Of course, we don’t know how it compares to the Xbox Series X just yet. Still, we are left with quite the incredible demo footage thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5.
