Ghost of Tsushima Will Not Have Waypoints But Instead Physical Unique Landmarks

April 13, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready to memorize the world when Ghost of Tsushima drops this June.

Sucker Punch Productions, who you may remember from the Sly Cooper and Infamous franchises, are hard at work with their next big upcoming video game release, Ghost of Tsushima. Within this game, players are taking on the role of a Jin Sakai, the last samurai on Tsushima Island during a Mongol Invasion. To save those that he loves, Jin learns early on that he can’t just rely on his samurai skills alone when it comes to facing this enemy invasion.

Players will instead use a mixture of samurai and ninja skills when taking out the enemies that have flooded onto the island. We’re still learning more about this game and in a new report we’re finding out that Ghost of Tsushima is being developed without the traditional waypoint system you may be used to seeing in a variety of video game titles. Instead of having a map to indicate a marker point where the next objective may be located you’ll instead have to rely on landmarks.

This game will feature plenty of unique landmarks from what we can gather and it’s through these landmarks and general areas memorization’s that you’ll rely on when trying to navigate in the game. We’re still left wondering just how big of a map this game as well so we could find ourselves wandering around the map for a little bit when trying to find your next location or potential side quest.

With that said, Ghost of Tsushima is slated to launch on June 26, 2020, for the PlayStation 4. That’s of course if it doesn’t get delayed due to the coronavirus, after all, we’ve already seen Naughty Dog forced to hold off on releasing The Last of Us Part 2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
