Sega has an easily recognizable mascot with Sonic the Hedgehog. The video game character has been around for decades and while the fight between Sega’s Sonic and Nintendo’s Mario is long over with, Sonic is still an iconic character that has been going strong since his debut. Now for 2020, Sega has big plans for Sonic and each month you’ll hear something new about the franchise.
Known as the Sonic 2020 project, Sega is making sure that Sonic is present each month with the 20th day being set for some type of reveal. For this month it was the simple reveal of Sonic 2020 project so the real main unveiling for Sonic should come on February 20, 2020. What that reveal may be is anyone’s guess but we’re sure that fans of the franchise will be checking in monthly to see what is to come for their favorite blue-haired hedgehog.
The last mainline installment from the franchise was a massive hit so it would be interesting to see if anything this year will top it from Sega. We’re of course referring to the 2017 release of Sonic Mania, a game that took the franchise back to the feel of classic 16-bit Sonic.
For a franchise that got its start back in 1991, we’re getting close to its big 30th anniversary. We’re sure that when December 20, 2020, rolls around, we’ll get some type of an announcement for the anniversary date next year. Despite this, what are you hoping to see next from Sega when it comes to Sonic? The franchise has several video game series, cartoons and even a live-action movie that will soon hit the movie theaters near you. Currently, all we can do is wait until the 20th day of each month to see just what surprises Sega has in store for players.
