Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty Screens Show Much Improved Presentation

November 1, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

The latest batch of screens for the Oddworld reboot are as visually impressive as you’d hope.

Tricks are great and all, but everything about the new Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty screenshots is just a treat. Oddworld Inhabitants and Just Add Water have decided to release a slew of HD images for the upcoming reboot in time for the Halloween season, and even if you lack the nostalgic backbone for this series, it’s hard to not be impressed with the work being done on a true classic.

It might not be chock full of new content, but this current and next-gen version project will take players back to what started it all – the original Abe’s Oddysee. The creative platformer first released in 1997 on the original PlayStation, but now, industry veteran Lorne Lanning and crew taking the show to PS4. Take a look at all the sharp content below.

It looks and likely plays better, and according to Lanning, the development environment has been the best he’s ever worked in.

“Simply put, it’s the smartest development environment that we’ve ever seen,” Lanning told IGN in a recent interview. “I believe a lot of that credit goes to chief hardware architect, Mark Cerny, who has an incredible depth of knowledge and long-time experience in developing games. Mark has serious knowledge – and I mean down to the machine language.”

Look to hear more on this reworked game in the coming months.
