Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is Getting Rebooted

June 5, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

The classic title Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee will be getting rebooted for a 2013 release.

The official Oddworld Facebook page was updated today with an official update (thus concluding this redundant sentence) about Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.

According to the developers who posted the brief, Abe's Oddysee will be getting a reboot. Not an HD update to the original PS1 title, but an actual new game with all new gameplay, graphics, and all the kinds of things you'd expect from a brand new game for 2013.

The developers aren't ready to show the game yet, so it won't have a presence at this year's E3, but they promise that they'll give the game its first public showing later this year. They're looking at a release window of Summer 2013.

Here's what they posted in full on Facebook:

"Ok so here's the skinny on "Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee"…
We decided to reboot it, not just an HD update to the original PS1 title, this is a NEW game. It will be getting it's first public showing LATER this year, with a release date of NEXT summer (2013)"
