Konami was a big name years ago and their video game titles that released from the studio meant some polished gameplay. With several franchises owned, Konami has been laying rather dormant. We haven’t seen too much from the company in terms of video game releases outside of mobile games and PES. However, if you’re a fan of the Silent Hill franchise then you may find some interest in hearing that Konami had filed a trademark for Silent Hill in Canada.
Unfortunately, this trademark didn’t come with any announcements or statements from Konami. Instead, we’re only assuming that this was just a move to keep the trademark active as it neared its expiration date. As a result, this could just be a means for Konami to keep the franchises dormant with no actual releases in the foreseeable future, but there is a massive fan base that is eager to see the series make a return.
While we won’t get the old Team Silent back that developed the first four main installments to the video game series, there may be some support and interest from a few members to get a chance in revisiting this franchise. For instance, Masahiro Ito recently spoke up on Twitter on returning to Silent Hill to make a brand new installment. Perhaps we’ll soon get some news about this franchise from Konami sooner rather than later.
