Square Enix has released new a trailer for Ligthning Returns: FInal Fantasy XIII for the Tokyo Game Show demonstrating new gameplay and the return of XIII-2's Caius Ballad.
We're told Lightning must bring Caius "salvation" and "release his soul". Lightning Returns is set 13 days before the end of the world and Claire is tasked with saving as many souls as possible before time runs out.
Speaking to Famitsu, game designer Yuji Abe said the title will have a hard mode with better item drops. The mode will be unlocked after completing the game for the first time which can take from 20 to 50 hours depending on how many side quests you choose to do.
While enemies on hard mode will be more difficult they drop more items more frequently. Thankfully gamers will be able to transfer Lightning's stats from normal mode over to hard.
Some more powerful enemies will have unique drops while thinning out some species of enemies in an area will spawn a boss version of the creatures.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is set for release in Japan on November 21st and will be launched in North America on February 11th and in Europe on Febraury 14th for PS3 and Xbox 360.
