Producer of the hit Netflix video game adaptation of Castlevania, Adi Shankar, announced today that he has acquired the rights to Devil May Cry and will be working on an anime series that will tie into the already established world of Castlevania.

This is exciting news, as Netflix’s Castlevania is the closest form of media we’ve seen that had successfully adapted a video game property. In an interview with IGN, Shankar noted that the Devil May Cry series “will join Castlevania in what we’re now calling the bootleg multiverse.”

No specific details on what the show’s plot will circle around, but he went on to mention that he wanted to grab these rights and do them justice, basically. “I acquired these (Devil May Cry) rights myself so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t f*** this one up too.”

Recently, Shankar took to Twitter to celebrate with his fans that the wildly successful Castlevania series has been greenlit for a third season. The show is well worth a watch for both fans of the franchise and newcomers to anime alike. It is just an overall good story paired with amazing anime visuals, and a dark, brutal theme; it’s truly worth a watch.

Castlevania is one of the best video game adaptations to date, and now with the rights to Devil May Cry in the correct hands, we could possibly be seeing the second greatest video game adaptation very soon.
