Crysis 3: The Lost Island multiplayer DLC has been announced for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC for $15 and is due to be released on June 4th.
In a press statement Crytek’s CEO Cevat Yerli commented that The Lost Island will see the series return to its “spiritual roots” as it leaves the ruins of New York behind and heads to a tropical landscape reminiscent of the original Crysis.
“The gameplay in the Crysis series has always been deeply connected to the unique environments in which the action takes place,” Yerli noted. “By transporting players out of the Liberty Dome and into the Lost Island setting, we’re not only returning to Crysis‘ spiritual roots, but also introducing fresh ways to play that provide Crysis 3 fans with genuinely game-changing new tactical options, game modes and weapons.”
The Lost Island revolves around an alien presence which has been detected on a small island in the Philippines. A rebel group has been sent to destroy the “unknown extraterrestrial entity” before a CELL taskforce can acquire it by “any means necessary”.
Yesterday, Crytek remarked the DLC would be “special” and “major”. It’s believed that the DLC will add four maps based on achievements which have been discovered totalling 250 Gamerscore. The maps in question are Coastline, Creek, Crossing and Ascension.
Yerli has previously called Crysis 3 Crytek’s “masterpiece” however it has failed to meet the expectations of EA, its publisher.
