Deus Ex: Human Defiance Says Goodbye Polygons, Hello Pixels

April 2, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

"If there’s one thing that the pixels are allowing us to do, it’s for deeper conspiracies."

As previously noted, this year's batch of video game related gags were actually really good. Here's another example: Deus Ex: Human Defiance. It's basically the Deus Ex you know and love, except as a 2D, side scrolling platformer.

But here's the thing; the following looks so good that it's actually a bit depressing that it's some joke. Seriously, Deus Ex: Human Defiance looks lots of fun:

Though what really sells the video are the gentlemen who carries it all along, in the most straight manner possible. Everything from explaining the change in art direction. i.e. combining two triangles to form a square, which in turn resembles a pixel, to all the different and vastly looking locales the game contains. It's good stuff.

Though, in addition to people wishing that 8-bit Deus Ex was real, there's also a contingency of people who believe Human Defiance is indeed an actual game that might happen if there is enough support.

Meanwhile, others believe that the video above contains pertaining to an actual sequel coming down the pipeline. This is Deus Ex we're talking about, after all.
