Fans have put together a trailer of the Grand Theft Auto 5 using still images and screenshots of the game, brought to life with rudimentary animations and sound effects. It's a lot like Terry Gilliam's animated intros and intermissions for the Monty Python series.
The trailer as a whole is fairly slapstick and uses minimal effects to draw its laughs out of viewers.
We imagine that they'll be putting together even more of this sort of thing when more screenshots of the game are released by Rockstar, and the days towards the game's release this September stretch out into months and feel like years.
Unlike its predecessors, Grand Theft Auto 5 is a much more serious game, touching upon themes of poverty, socio-economic struggle and all the things that come with living in a post 9/11 world. It's to these ends that Rockstar can be expected to cleverly satirize society with the humor they're known for. It's not slapstick, but a GTA with Monty Python-esque humor wouldn't make much sense, anyway.
The game's confirmed for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
