Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall Sees You Play as Daud

March 13, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

Play as the man who killed the Empress.

Following its teaser yesterday, Bethesda has properly announced the next piece of DLC for Dishonored, and it's called Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall. As we heard back in October last year when the first DLC – Dunwall City Trials – was announced, in this expansion players will play as Daud, Corvo's antagonist in the game.

Daud is the man who killed the Empress, an infamous assassin who has supernatural powers – presumably from the Outsider – just like Corvo. Apparently, however, playing as Daud will give players access to “a unique arsenal of new weapons and powers that enhance Dishonored's dynamic combat, mobility and stealth systems”, so it looks like this won't just be like playing Corvo with a different skin.

However, it won't be so different as to put you in the shoes of a downright evil character whose only goal is to murder innocent people like the Empress. The story is that after carrying out the heinous act that caused Corvo – and the city of Dunwall – so much trouble Daud is now on a quest for redemption. But whether that'll go according to plan is apparently in the hands of the chaos-loving Outsider, who “reveals the key to your atonement” lies with someone (or something) called Delilah.

As Daud strives to seek this redemption, he'll be accompanied by his fellow assassins – the Whalers – and you'll get to explore parts of Dunwall that weren't accessible in the original game. Like for Corvo, your decisions along the way will affect Daud's fate in the end.

Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall will launch for Xbox 360 on April 16 and for PS3 on April 17. Are you interested in playing as the notorious Daud?
