Sony has announced that Plants vs. Zombies will join the list of free games that are available to PlayStation Plus members in the U.S. For those who haven't played it, this is an incredibly popular tower defence game that involves placing a variety of defensive plants in rows to fight off approaching zombies. It sounds ridiculous, but actually requires some thoughtful strategy. The Vita version also includes co-op multiplayer and other modes including some mini-games. It normally costs $10.49, which will no doubt seem outrageous to anyone who's bought this game on Android or iOS, especially considering the fact that it's currently free on the latter.
Further discounts for PlayStation Plus members include a reduced price for PS3 game Retro/Grade, a rhythm game in which you start at the end and work your way backwards. This game normally costs $9.99 to download from the PlayStation Store, but is currently only $2.44 for PlayStation Plus members. You can also get the soundtrack, which is normally $7.99, for only $1.74.
Finally, PlayStation Plus members will also receive discounts on the Gamers' Choice Awards winners when those are announced later today. These games will be discounted for a week on the PlayStation Store, with further discounts for PlayStation Plus members. Given that the list of nominees includes titles like Journey and The Unfinished Swan (Best PSN Exclusive), The Walking Dead – Season Pass (Best PSN Game), and Borderlands 2 (Best PS3 Full Game), it's definitely worth keeping an eye out for the winners.
