In an interview with GameTrailers, Sony let slip that the new iteration of Diablo III for the new PlayStation console could support offline play.
"You can have four people on the same screen – no split-screen, we just zoom the camera out. Or if you're offline…" Sony's John Hight said before he was interrupted by GameTrailers host Geoff Keighley in a post-PlayStation Meeting interview.
This could possibly mean that Diablo III for the PlayStation could have four-player split screen co-op.
Diablo III for the PC received a lot of negative feedback regarding its mandatory use of an Internet connection to even play the single-player campaign. Could this slip reveal some much bigger changes to the game, including maybe the deletion of the Auction House, which required an Internet connection to maintain its integrity?
Regardless, it was confirmed that the game will also support local co-op.
The announcement during the PlayStation 4 press event was one of the main surprises of the night. Blizzard announced the game coming to both the PS3 and the PS4.
"We wanted to get back into consoles for years, and it was just a matter of finding the right time, and the right partner," said Blizzard creative director Chris Metzen.
You can watch the interview, which starts at around 5:21 in the video below.
