SwitchCharge Successfully Reaches Indiegogo Goal

April 12, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Add an extra battery to your Switch.

We reported on the SwitchCharge in the past and it really comes to no surprise that the project was fully funded on Indiegogo. If you’re unfamiliar with this project, the SwitchCharge is a product that would allow Nintendo Switch owners to hook on an extra battery pack that would ideally give the console an extra twelve hours of battery life.

As is, the Switch only offers gamers about three hours of gameplay when the Nintendo’s latest console hybrid is being played while on-the-go. Unfortunately, that amount of time won’t cut it for plenty of owners out there, leaving them to find an outlet or enjoy the console while connected to the dock.

The SwitchCharge acts an extra battery pack while also tossing in the extra feature of a more stable kickstand, a side port to charge the console, along with slots to hold extra game cartridges that are not in use.

“We’ve reached our goal! and in under 2 days!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped to make the SwitchCharge a reality. When we received the Switch we saw a problem, we looked to solve it, and now thanks to you we can. Best of all we get to share it with everyone!

What’s next? – There’s still a month left, and it doesn’t stop here. As we’ve been funded in just 2 days we’re able to begin confirming the details of production with our partners, including getting a production ready prototype to show you before the campaign ends. We will be showing you how we’re progressing every step of the way, providing updates on our progress and as we make further revisions on our prototypes, putting together videos to show you the SwitchCharge in action.”

All-in-all, the SwitchCharge seems to be something that will help gamers out who picked up the Switch for use on-the-go rather than being connected to the dock.

While the Indiegogo page is still up and running, it seems that the entry-level perk that would grant users a unit has been sold out. Instead, gamers who want a discounted SwitchCharge will have to pay out $85 as there are still hundreds of units unclaimed at that perk level.
