NieR: Automata – How to Get To XP Fast | Best XP Farming Methods

October 8, 2022 by Kevin Thielenhaus

On PS4 & PC: Don’t let the XP grind get you down. Here’s how you can rapidly level up with (comparatively) little effort. All you need is this location.

To defeat the biggest, baddest enemies in NieR: Automata, your android characters are going to need to level up. Like any game, that can be a slow, arduous process if you’ve already completed the story. The long trek to max level takes a lot of grinding, but there are a few methods you can use to quickly gain multiple levels in a single encounter.

This isn’t an exploit or a glitch, so don’t worry about cheating. These are just the best possible locations, and the best possible enemies, you’ll want to farm for fast XP gains. It’s really quite simple, but very easy to miss. Check out the guide below for all the details.

How to Get To Level 99 Fast | XP Farming Guide

[Work-in-Progress: There are multiple ways to farm for XP. Check back soon for more methods and tips.]

Before doing any XP farming, stop by Emil’s Shop (near the Desert Zone entrance from City Ruins: Center) and purchase +3 XP Plug-In Chips. Equip these before grinding to earn XP and level up even faster.

Method #1: Level 55+

  • Requirement: Only available in Playthrough #2 (9S Story) — Can be accessed again in Chapter Select.

This method is best used for players in the end-game portion of NieR: Automata. If you’re working towards gaining levels for the secret Lvl. 99 bosses, this is one of the best ways to do it.

  1. Go to the Amusement Part (Playthrough #2, 9S)
  2. Hack the large friendly robot (wearing a top hat) in the fountain square at the Amusement Park entrance.
    • Select “Remote Control” after a successful hack.
  3. Clear out all the smaller enemies in the square.
  4. Hack the golden robot statue in the center of the fountain.
  5. Hacking the robot will earn you tons of XP — you’ll get XP for hacking and for destroying it.

Rinse and repeat — return to a save point, then exit and reload. Return to the same area and farm the golden robot statue for huge XP. You can easily earn 3-4 levels per kill, even at high levels. Lower level players won’t be able to damage the statue at all, so be sure you’re Level 55 or higher.

More methods coming soon.
