The quest is over! The last 25 Kodama, or little green Shrine sprites, are available collect in the Omi Region of Nioh. That’s a total of 150 Kodama in total.
That’s a totally insane amount, and more than most of us are willing to hunt — but there’s a good reason to collect these little guys. If we haven’t reiterated it enough, grabbing Kodama increases the minimum amount of Elixirs you’ll gain every time you return to a Shrine.
The amount is upgraded every four Kodama, and the effect is separate for each region. That’s a pain in the neck, but it makes finding at least a handful of Kodama a real blessing. And we’re not even talking about the special Blessings Kodama unlock at the Shrine.
Kodama Locations [Omi]
Note: Kodama are glowing-green Yokai that increase one of five “blessings” at the shrine: Amrita drop rate increase, weapon drop rate increase, armor drop rate increase, elixir drop rate increase, and crafting material drop rate increase. All Kodama are specific to their region, and will not upgrade shrines in other regions. There are 25 Kodama in each region.
Main Mission: A Defiled Holy Mountain
- Kodama #1: From the start, go around the tree on the right to a rocky dead end with this Kodama.
- Kodama #2: Enter the cave and continue forward to reach the massive chamber. From the entrance, go up the ramping path forward-left, and continue left until you find a small alcove cut into the rock. This is on the ramping path that leads up to the chamber exit.
- Kodama #3: Continue up to the chamber exit to find the ladder leading down. At the bottom of the ladder, immediately turn left and drop into the space behind the wooden structure.
- Kodama #4: From the wooden structure, follow the ledge up a zig-zag path and watch for a small ledge you’ll need to drop down to from above, at the top of the zig-zag. Around the corner, on this small ledge, there’s a clearly visible Kodama past a cave entrance.
- Kodama #5: Continue along the mountain path and into the large cavern with a natural bridge straight ahead. Cross the bridge, and hug the left wall as you enter the upper platform of another large chamber. There’s a short dead-end path that leads to a Kodama.
- Kodama #6: Take the second natural bridge across and exit the cavern. Follow the exterior mountain path up. In the corner before dropping down, there’s a Kodama next to the ledge.
- Kodama #7: Go through the bamboo forest and run along the left path until you reach a mountain shack. Take the stone stairs down through the back door, then cross the rickety suspension bridge at the bottom. Climb up and around to a cliff with a view of the shack you just passed through — the Kodama is there.
- Kodama #8: Find the shrine that’s hidden away inside a cave path ahead. The Kodama is to the right of the cave shrine.
- Kodama #9: From the shrine, take the stone stairs up to a building on stilts. The Kodama is on the deck, around the corner from the entrance doorway.
Main Mission: The Samurai from Sawayama
- Kodama #10: From the shrine, go down the path, past the trapped floor switch, and up the stairs ahead. There’s a hidden door at the top of the stairs. Kill it and look in the alcove beneath the hidden room’s steps.
- Kodama #11: This is where things get complicated. Enter the area with the destroyed floors, and find the stairs leading up into a room with explosive barrels placed near the corners. Shoot the explosive barrel to reveal a hidden passage — enter the cell in the cave.
- Kodama #12: Next, take the long, deep path downward through the excavated cave walls. Open the double doors that lead straight into a cave. Before going deeper, check around the corner on your right.
- Kodama #13: Enter the cavern and stick to the right wall. Take the path up into an interior cell.
- Kodama #14: Find the large cavern room with the Yokai Realm that summons a cyclops demon. Kill it to collect the “Gaoler’s Keychain” — return to the barred shortcut double-door that leads into the jail cells. One of these doors is locked. Use the key to open it and kill the two demons inside.
- Kodama #15: In the Gaoler’s Keychain drop room, enter the path in the lower floor, at the back-right of the room. It leads to a ledge with a Kodama.
- Kodama #16: From the area with the spiderwebs, take the road leading up — go left, right, right to enter a room with web-covered bones. There’s an undead creature in the back-right corner protecting the Kodama.
- Kodama #17: Drop down from Kodama #15 and find the tall spiral staircase. At the very top, you’ll find some wooden debris against the right wall. Smash it to reveal a secret passage. Go all the way down, and turn right as you exit the snake mouth. There’s a Kodama along the right wall.
- Kodama #18: At the top of the previous spiral staircase, go through the double doors. Enter the doors on the right, then follow the path protected by a giant spider. In the following room, look behind the sandbags.
Main Mission: The Demon King Revealed
- Kodama #19: At the first shrine, go down the stairs and check around the corner on the left.
- Kodama #20: Go through the doorway near the shrine and up the floating ramp. Take the stairs up, then walk along the very narrow stones and look down to spot a small platform with a Kodama you can reach by falling down from above.
- Kodama #21: Continue up and past the well, then down the floating ramp. Continue straight forward to reach a path made from the broken bits of a white wall. Look in the corner, right of this debris ramp.
- Kodama #22: Move through the building ahead until you reach a tall ladder. Climb up and go right — look behind the tree and adjust the camera down. There’s a tough-to-spot ledge below. Fall down and follow it until you reach a ladder. At the top of the ladder, go left along the wall to find this Kodama.
- Kodama #23: At the broken floating rock platforms, you’ll need to drop down twice to reach the courtyard with a Yokai Realm summoning area. Before encountering the demon, go down the steps on the left and look behind the white wall.
- Kodama #24: Up the long winding path, you’ll reach the central tower. Find the stairwell to the right of the shrine and take the steps down. At the bottom, look in the storage area protected by an axe-skeleton.
- Kodama #25: Go through the double doors to find the path to the left tower. Instead of crossing the floating rock bridge, move along the narrow rock ledge directly right after opening the double doors.
