It’s all out war in the fifth region of Nioh as we hunt for another 25 hidden Kodama. These sprites improve your Shrine, and give you bonus Elixirs as a reward for all your hard work. For every four Kodama you collect, you’ll gain an extra Elixir for that particular region — that’s why it’s always good to get these little guys as quickly as possible.
The challenge ramps up as you’re forced to wander the bloody battlefields of Sekigahara. Leveling up with extra Amrita is important here, as you’ll deal with more and more challenging demonic opponents. There are more bosses too — some stages feature multiple titanic encounters, culminating in an insane battle against an infamous Japanese mythological monsters. Prepare yourself accordingly with the Kodama locations below.
Kodama Locations [Sekigahara]
Note: Kodama are glowing-green Yokai that increase one of five “blessings” at the shrine: Amrita drop rate increase, weapon drop rate increase, armor drop rate increase, elixir drop rate increase, and crafting material drop rate increase. All Kodama are specific to their region, and will not upgrade shrines in other regions. There are 25 Kodama in each region.
Main Mission: Immortal Flame
- Kodama #1: From the first shrine, enter the first path on your left and go straight forward (skip the right path) — continue until you see chunks of crumbled wall partially blocking the right path. Look behind the debris.
- Kodama #2: Enter the destroyed town square area near the first Kodama. Cross the pond and run to the back-right alleyway.
- Kodama #3: Continue forward until you reach stairs and follow the path left through a gate. On the right, there’s a hidden wall-monster. Kill it and look along the balcony left. This is right before reaching the road to the bridge that leads to the second shrine.
- Kodama #4: On the road guarded by pistol-packing ninjas, before reaching the bridge to the second shrine, look in the wall debris scattered around the center of the road. There’s a small alcove you can enter with this Kodama.
- Kodama #5: Dodge through the fire to the left, at the start of the bridge, and look on the path below.
- Kodama #6: Enter the large building near the second Shrine and fight to the long hallway guarded by more ninja. As you leave, there’s a tower straight ahead. Follow the narrow ledge on the right around to the back of this tower.
- Kodama #7: Climb the scaffolding ladder ahead and drop down onto the lower wall on the left. There’s a scaffolding with a treasure chest here, and another kodama.
- Kodama #8: At the third shrine, drop down onto the lower grassy area with the stone entrance beneath the keep. Look on the edges of this grassy platform before going inside.
- Kodama #9: Enter the dark underground of the keep next to the previous Kodama. When you find a breakable door on the right, smash it and look in the corner.
Main Mission: Sekigahara
- Kodama #10: From the first Shrine, go up the hill and down into the trench. Turn left at the burning fire and toward the large tree. Follow the battlements and fences left until you reach a ledge with this Kodama.
- Kodama #11: Go to the bridge and go left, skirting around the Clan symbol tent walls. On the left, there’s a rocky outcropping.
- Kodama #12: Continue past the camp, defeat the boss, and exit through the gate. Drop down the battlements until you reach a bridge. Fall into the stream and follow it left. At the broad beach, go through the narrow passage. There are three statues with a Kodama here.
- Kodama #13: Move into the blasted battlefield from the beach. Look for a burnt house with a watchtower built into the side — enter the fenced-in area and find the Kodama behind a completely destroyed tower.
- Kodama #14: In the same battlefield, go into the left side, into the spiked wooden defense walls. At the end of the path, between the two sets of walls, you’ll find the fallen top of a watchtower. Look nearby.
- Kodama #15: At the far end of the same battlefield, there’s a ruined village. Find a high muddy cliff with a stream that leads into a small alcove (marked with another fallen tower’s top) on the right.
- Kodama #16: To the left of the previous Kodama, there’s a stream that leads onto a hill with another bridge into the village. Before crossing the bridge, walk on the narrow mud ridge on the right, between the wooden defenses.
Main Mission: The Source of Evil
- Kodama #17: From the magic-wielding NPC, continue up the wooden debris ramp and into the large battlefield with the creature in the distance. Turn right and look behind a burnt, fallen tree.
- Kodama #18: In the village, look in the breakable crates to the left of the well.
- Kodama #19: Moving toward the crater, fight through the yokai and enter the first open door on your left. The Yokai is hiding in an oven.
- Kodama #20: Past the giant yokai crystal, drop down off the cliff with the tower on the left. After landing, turn left and check near another twisted burnt tree. The path up to the tower is on the left.
- Kodama #21: Climb up to the top of that tower to find the last one.
Sub Mission: The Watcher of Darkness
- Kodama #22: Dropping down into the large arena from the tall ladder, take the path left of the Torii Gate and smash the crates in the corner.
- Kodama #23: Climb the ladder to the right of that Torii Gate. Go right at the top, enter the narrow wooden passage and enter the room on the right.
- Kodama #24: Go through that Torii Gate to reach the underground temple. At the structure, look right of the front doors to find these where there’s an opening in the walls.
- Kodama #25: Follow the path left of the underground temple Shrine. The Kodama is in the back of the room, through the double doors.
