The quest for Kodama continues into the Tokai Region of Nioh, and there are 25 more shrine sprites to collect for upgraded blessings in this area. This time you’ll explore trap-filled ninja hideouts, defiled castles and spooky temples, all with the requisite Yokai infestation. There are secret revolving doors, trapdoors, and other nefariously hidden booby traps meant to make the labyrinth levels of Nioh even more confusing.
Just like every other region, the Kodama of Tokai provide a wealth of blessings at the Shrines… if you’re willing to use them. The Amrita Drop Rate upgrades are especially useful, along with the Elixir Drop Rate, making enemies far more likely to leave behind extra Elixirs as you explore these expansive environments.
Kodama Locations [Tokal]
Note: Kodama are glowing-green Yokai that increase one of five “blessings” at the shrine: Amrita drop rate increase, weapon drop rate increase, armor drop rate increase, elixir drop rate increase, and crafting material drop rate increase. All Kodama are specific to their region, and will not upgrade shrines in other regions. There are 25 Kodama in each region.
Main Mission: The Iga Escape
- Kodama #1: The very first Kodama is behind a secret revolving wall. Enter the residence and find the first door on the right as you reach the large room. Enter the door on the left, and check the back-left wall. There’s a secret wall here that opens when you interact. Look behind the ladder, next to the treasure chest.
- Kodama #2: Go up the ladder and enter the second floor area overlooking the courtyard. Circle around the balcony to the left of the interior courtyard, and enter the narrow hallway. Look in the corner of the hall, when it branches left — there’s a hard-to-spot trapdoor. Fall through to find this Kodama.
- Kodama #3: From the trapdoor, go down the exterior stairs and turn right to enter another room with a hidden door. Exit to the yard and look around the base of the well.
- Kodama #4: Still in the yard, look for a Torii Gate (red gate) in the garden to the right of the well. The Kodama is in the tall weeds to the right of the Torii Gate.
- Kodama #5: Go up onto the wooden walkways suspended over the yard. When the catwalk forks, go right toward the second floor interior. Before entering, drop onto the rock ledge to the left. The Kodama is behind the tree.
- Kodama #6: The next Kodama is very close! Drop down from the rock ledge where you collected Kodama #5, and there’s another one hidden behind the pile of breakable crates. Smash them all to reveal it.
- Kodama #7: Further into the estate, you’ll find a series of rooms with breakable paper sliding doors. Go right to find a revolving wall, that leads to a second revolving wall. In the next room, look on the right to spot a wall-monster’s eyes. Defeat the wall-monster to find a healing spring and a Kodama.
- Kodama #8: In the same room as the wall-monster, there’s a revolving wall. Look on the wall left of the healing spring entrance.
Main Mission: Memories of Death-Lillies
- Kodama #9: Behind the large waterfall, take the path down to the flowing river below. There’s a smaller waterfall here that’s partially obscuring a Kodama.
- Kodama #10: Right of the river, drop down into a dark area with a dirt path on the right that leads up. Part of the way up the ramp, look left to spot a ledge you can only reach by dropping down from above. The second Kodama is located here.
- Kodama #11: Find the broken bridge to the small outcropping of buildings. Drop down to find the path up to the house on the opposite side of the bridge. Look behind the house to find a Kodama.
- Kodama #12: From the previous Kodama, start from the broken bridge (facing toward the house) and look right for a small path through the forest. The path splinters off left, ramping up to a dead end with this Kodama.
- Kodama #13: Take the path down through the Seiryuji Temple and toward the lower fenced-in temple building at the bottom of the path. Circle around the exterior edge of the main building to locate the Kodama.
- Kodama #14: Use the path to the left of the shrine area with the previous Kodama. You’ll work your way up and into the back of the Seiryuji Temple. There’s a stone path that leads to a watchtower platform with the Temple Key. Drop down to find the Kodama.
- Kodama #15: Right where you use the Seiryuji Temple Key, look to the right of the open doors.
Main Mission: The Defiled Castle
- Kodama #16: From the first shrine, enter the muddy water path and climb the ladder up into a room with a purple-hued crystal. Follow that path past the dual fires lighting up the narrow hallway that leads up to a balcony with this Kodama.
- Kodama #17: In the back-right corner of the large warehouse-like storeroom. Very easy to spot.
- Kodama #18: Take the stairs up on the path straight ahead from the storeroom and turn right. In the room with the breakable crystal, look down for an enclosed spot with this Kodama.
- Kodama #19: Climb out of the underground and into the exterior bulwarks of the castle. Go through the first large gate, then take the stairs up on the left. There’s an alcove here filled with breakable junk. Smash it all to reveal a Kodama location.
- Kodama #20: Follow the stone foundation around to a ladder. Climb up to find this Kodama at the top of the scaffolds.
- Kodama #21: Enter though the closed double-doors and go left. Take the stairs up, then the ladder, then another set of stairs. At the top, enter the balcony on the right and circle around the corner to find this mission’s final Kodama.
Sub Mission: The Trail of the Master
- Kodama #22: From the second floor, look behind the spiral staircase in the back-right corner of the chamber. Smash the pots to reveal this Kodama.
- Kodama #23: Go up the spiral stairs and enter the room on the left. Look in the back-left corner.
- Kodama #24: From the previous staircase, look on the right. The balcony is a booby-trap that collapses, dropping you onto the wooden beam supports. Use the beams to enter the crack in the wall in the back-left side of the chamber. Drop down onto the shelves and circle around to grab the Kodama.
- Kodama #25: Back on the wooden beams, go right and drop down to the lower level of wooden beams. From here, you can spot the Kodama on top of a shelf along the right wall. Drop onto this shelf to get the last one for the area.
