Nioh: How to Open Every Locked Door | All Key Locations Guide

February 8, 2017 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Only on PS4: Don’t let those pesky locked doors stop your adventure cold. Here’s where to go to grab every plot-critical (or optional) key in Nioh.

Crack open every single locked door in Nioh with our complete list of key locations.

Taking a cue (or two) from the Dark Souls series, Nioh also includes keys and locked doors to encourage exploration. It also helps when unlocking shortcuts or accessing areas you aren’t supposed to go. Not every key is critical for progressions.

Sometimes you’ll encounter completely optional keys. Whatever the case, if you’re lost and confused and need those valuable key locations, just keep scrolling to find keys organized by mission.

How to Open Every Locked Door | All Key Locations Guide

[Work-in-Progress: Check back soon for new keys.]

Once a key is collected, it is automatically used after interacting with its matching locked door. Here we’ll list where to get every key, and what door the key will unlock.

Main Mission: Isle of Demons

  • Key to Residence: In the fenced-in residence guarded by multiple foot soldiers, there’s a locked gate that leads into the main village. Find the key inside the noble’s house, right behind where the large Oni is summoned.
    • Locked Door: The locked gate to the residence is across the front yard.

Main Mission: Deep in the Shadows

  • Boss’s Room Key: This optional drop is found below the second large cavern chamber. From the store-room (and treasure chest) side-room dor, there’s an upper rock ramp that leads up to a bridge and a locked door. Go beneath the bridge and follow the path down, turning right to encounter two Samurai in a cavern path past the closed door. Kill them Samurai here — if they don’t drop the key, restart and try again.
    • Locked Door: From the bandit cavern room, go up to the scaffolding to reach the locked boss’s room door. There’s a Kodama and a treasure chest inside.

Main Mission: Spirit Stone Slumbers

  • East Gate Key: Find this required key left of the East Gate. Go around the corner to a dead end with a corpse. Search the corpse to get the key.
    • Locked Door: The massive East Gate is hard to miss. Find it next to the larger village area with main structures around the square.

Main Mission: The Silver Mine Writhes

  • Central Mine Key: After clearing the gas before reaching the second Shrine, you’ll find the  the locked door in the lower area of the large chamber. There’s a corpse to the right of the locked door hanging from a higher ledge. Get the key by climbing up the ladder found to the right of the locked door.
    • Locked Door: The Central Mine door is in the green-gas lower area of the mine. It’s directly in your path as you progress after activating the air filtration machine.

Main Mission: Spider Nest Castle

  • Key to the Castle Gates: Go to the back-right room of the large residence on the castle grounds. There’s a room with a dead body near a katana display stand. Collect the item on the corpse to get this key.
    • Locked Door: The gate is on the main path and is required to access the keep.

More coming soon!
