How to Play As Kevin Smith on ‘Rave in the Redwoods’, Because Why Not

January 31, 2017 by Kevin Thielenhaus

On PC, PS4 & Xbox One: Now you can become a ‘Super Slacker’ in Infinite Warfare’s second Zombies map. Kevin Smith is playable; here are the details.

Nerd royalty Kevin Smith doesn’t just appear in Rave in the Redwoods, he’s also a playable character… if you’re willing to go the distance.

Unlocking Kevin Smith, complete with ankle-length jorts, hockey jersey and swirling pot aroma, is going to take some serious effort, but for the most dedicated zombies maniacs, it’s a worthwhile Easter egg. You’ll get to live life as the Slacker Supreme, and earn an achievement / trophy for your troubles. Fittingly, the hidden unlock code for Kevin Smith is in the toilet.

Last year, fans got to summon (and play as!) David Hasselhoff. The man from Baywatch even appeared as a helpful DJ, guiding the players to success and becoming integral to solving Zombies in Spaceland’s massive Easter egg. Reaching the end-state meant bringing all sorts of items to Hasselhoff, and fixing your robot pal N31L in the hub area meant Hasselhoff was only one cash deposit away.

How to Unlock Playable Kevin Smith

Unlocking Kevin Smith as a playable character isn’t easy. It’s actually agonizingly hard. Why? Because you’ll have to finish the main Easter egg at least once before you can play as this week’s celebrity guest. If you can (somehow) manage to complete the sprawling Easter egg, here’s what you’ll have to do to unlock the legend:

  • Step #1: Complete the main Easter Egg
    • This is the hard part, FYI. Check out the Main Easter Egg Guide linked above for all the details. It’s really complicated, so we won’t get into everything here.
  • Step #2: Find the Secret Code
    • While in Rave mode, it’s possible to spot a hidden button combo in the restroom, marked on the wall with neon paint. It’s actually pretty tough to spot, but here’s the code:
      • Secret Code: Right, Left, Left, Down, Down, Right
  • Step #3: Input the Code
    • When you’re in the Zombies menu with ‘Rave in the Redwoods’ selected, input the secret code quickly. A Kevin Smith icon will appear, letting you know that you’ve successfully unlocked the playable celebrity character.

Neat, right? We don’t know how useful Kevin Smith would be in a real zombie apocalypse, at least he’ll have some good Hollywood stories to tell.
